Sujeet Desai is a very talented musician with Down Syndrome who is able to play seven instruments to a very high level: piano, both Bb and bass clarinet, saxophone, violin, trumpet and drums. Sujeet’s has made it his mission to send a message across the world that, given the proper opportunities, individuals with disabilities can “Make it Happen!” It appears he really is demonstrating this through his talent and determination. He graduated from high school with honours in 2001 and later in 2003 graduated from Berkshire Hills Music Academy in Massachusetts, in Music and Human Services.

He then went on to work as a teaching assistant in a primary school, whilst also continuing to introduce audiences to music through his volunteer work which he continues to do. His volunteer work has led him to perform in churches, nursing homes, hospitals and community centres.

He has performed in nearly every State and in 13 different counties since March 2000, and as a result has won numerous awards both nationally and internationally, not just for his music but also for his self advocacy. These awards include an Achievement Award on United Nations International Day of Disabled Persons, the World Down Syndrome Day Award from Down Syndrome International and the Thank You Award from the Special Needs Families Developmental Centre in Dubai.

Musician and motivational speaker Sujeet Desai has paved many new roads in the world of disability and has become a role model
